3 Idiots

In spite of all the controversies it generated, (a very bad review I read on NDTV before seeing this film and the Chetan Bhagat fiasco about not giving him due credit for his original story, Five Point Someone, on which the movie is made), I am proud as an Indian that this film has been made. The most important mistake the critics are making is that they are not viewing it from the student's perspective but from the education system's.

Having educated students for the last 4 years I see nothing more than the truth conveyed here. Rancho's words are gospel truth. People will forget the film with the passage of time but the message it has conveyed will remain with us for a very long time.

Raju and Farhan were not at all happy with their lives. "Ek mar mar ke jee raha hai to doosra dar dar ke." Rancho's words, not mine. Yes Chatur is an interesting character and most practical in today's world by any standard.

The film dares to challenge the monotonous stream of education persisting in India without going too much into a social propaganda but the tone in which it delivers is light without making it a documentary. The message from the movie is "chase excellence and success will follow". It talks about the most important of human pursuits: self-actualization.
